When Rory got in touch with me about shooting her wedding I was excited because I hadn’t seen her since high school. She found a good match in Devin. The story according to Rory:
In college, freshman year at St. Andrews University we became friends. It wasn’t till about 10 years later that I ran into one of Devin’s friends at Squids in Chapel Hill in December. He mentioned Devin’s name and I immediately said, “OH, GIVE HIM MY NUMBER!” I didn’t realize he was living in Raleigh, just down the road. We got together for New Years Eve and started hanging out as friends for several months and eventually fell in love.
Together with North Carolina wedding Photographer Courtney Potter, we had a great collaboration.
The sun peeked from the clouds for only five minutes during their early September wedding, and otherwise the weather was a bit foreboding. Actually it poured for hours immediately following ceremony at Chapel Hill Carriage House, a unique wedding venue near Carrboro. Literally, lighting lept to the ground as I finished the last the group portrait on the putting green. I tried to convince everyone that it was only my flash going off, but soon enough the clamoring clouds emptied on us in a gulley-washer that sent us running for cover. But that was no concern. Even if rain was in the forecast, Rory and Devin wanted to go with the flow of the day, and they laughed and made faces during the family portraits. If the old saying is true – that rain on your wedding day is good luck – Rory and Devin should have some magnificent years ahead of them. Many blessings to you both as you begin this new adventure!
